Eleven by Joey Scandizzo

I recently had the opportunity to do a photoshoot to celebrate the launch of a new product by Eleven. I had my make-up done by Kylie O’toole, Hair by Joey Scandizzo and portrait shot by Andrew O’toole.

As I have very fine hair, a bouncy wave is what I always ask for whenever I have my hair done. I find a straight middle part gives me the most amount of volume and frames my face nicely.

I was also 6 weeks pregnant here so this photo will always be very special to me.

I’m so excited to share our wedding video, made by the amazing team from Purple Ribbon Weddings. It has been such a big couple of months for me and I have to admit that I’ve watched this video every day since it was sent to us.

Choosing Purple Ribbon was a no brainer as they have made beautiful videos for many of our friends. This still didn’t prepare us for how overwhelmingly happy we were (there were tears) when we saw our wedding day brilliantly edited down to 4 minutes. The whole team were so helpful and lovely and they took care of everything so that on the day we didn’t have to stress or worry about anything.

While we were planning our wedding I did have a lot of people tell me “oh don’t waste money on a wedding video, you’ll never watch it” or “I paid x amount for my video and I hate it.” I’m quite sentimental when it comes to photos and memories and my husband works in TV so opinions always went in one ear and out the other for us. All you have left after your wedding are the memories (and an expensive dress you’ll never wear again) so the more footage/photos the better!

While memories are important they should never distract from having a beautiful day. What was great for us was that we barely noticed Adam and Nathan on the day, they were seriously ninja’s. We never did something to specifically get a shot or worried about where the cameras were. Watching the video just makes me realise they didn’t miss a single special moment.

I’ll be doing a separate post on my do’s and don’ts and all my wedding suppliers next week x

I’m not going to lie, working from home definitely has it’s pros and cons. One of the major pros is that I get to wear whatever I want most days. Hello active wear! I kid..a little. On days where I have a meeting or need to look like a trustworthy adult, a white shirt and tailored pants are about as business-ey as it gets for me. I always need a giant tote for my mac, an iPhone charger (why do they always die before lunch?) and my giant A5 diary (digital calendars have never been my friend).

As to what it is I actually do every day, even I get confused about how to explain my title. I’ve been very lucky to  have worked for myself since my uni days. No two days in my life are ever the same. Some days I leave the house with 2 changes of clothes and rush from events to meetings to the gym and other days I’m glued to my laptop for 12 hours in my home office.

In 2014 I started an online beauty business focussing on natural, organic, vegan friendly products. I have spent most of the last year focussing on building the brand and have been involved in all aspects of the business including packaging, social media and orders. Owning and growing my own business has always been such a rewarding part of my life. I love working for myself, seeing all my ideas come to life and reaching goals I set for myself.

Working from home has also allowed me the freedom to attend events and work on my blog. After starting Tanarah in 2012 I’ve had some incredible opportunities to travel, work with brands I love and meet some really amazing people. I originally started my blog as an outlet for my creativity and 3 years on it’s that and so much more to me.  Even on days when I don’t close my laptop till 2am I still wouldn’t change a thing about my little online world.

My advice to anyone thinking of starting a blog or any online venture is to just do it. Start small, teach yourself, and just see where it goes.

I must have missed the memo that it can rain three days straight in Manhattan in June. I arrived armed with a months worth of summer clothes and ended up wearing these boots every day I was in the big apple!

There has been one trend I’ve been too scared to try until now – the jumpsuit. I fell in love with this one because it is still tailored enough to give me shape.

In the blink of an eye it’s gone from warm summer nights to jumper weather. Even though I live near the beach and absolutely love Summer, there’s something about pulling out all your comfy winter clothes and getting ready for the cooler months. Knits like this one by Steele and my new found love for white jeans also help.

5 minutes with Sanchia Sevel

We sat down with Fashion Blogger Sanchia Sevel to talk shoes, fashion, love and weddings… and how to dress to impress. Spoiler alert – she owns over 100 pairs of shoes!!

What are you doing for Valentine’s Day this year?

I haven’t planned anything yet but I would love to go to the Moonlight Cinemas or for a picnic at the Botanical Gardens.

Will you be giving a gift this Valentine’s Day?

I will be. Even if you don’t believe in Valentine’s Day, everyone deserves to be spoilt once and a while.

Where did you meet the special someone in your life?

We met at Boutique nightclub, how romantic! Warren had been at the races and was wearing a suit and I couldn’t stop staring at him. We disagree on who saw who first but he eventually came over and spoke to me and asked me out on a date.

What’s the most romantic date you have been on?

We had our anniversary in New York a couple of years ago and went out on a sailing boat on the Hudson. It was so beautiful seeing New York from the water. The sky was bright pink and the crew said it was the most amazing sunset they had ever seen.

We hear you’re planning a wedding, what are your tips?

I am and I only gave myself five months do it in, oops! I would say don’t lose your mind over the little things and try not to complicate your day.

Everyone says it goes so quickly so you don’t want to waste one second stressing over a little detail.  I feel the most important elements of a wedding are your closest friends and family, amazing music and delicious food and drinks.  Your guests aren’t going to remember what colour the menus were so it’s not worth losing sleep over.

How do you dress to impress?

I’m quite casual during the week so I love dressing up on the weekend or on date night. I feel my best in a new dress or playsuit and heels are always a must!

Your personal style in 3 words?

Relaxed, feminine and understated.

The key to great style is…

Wearing what suits your body and being comfortable. If I’m uncomfortable or what I’m wearing doesn’t fit properly it shows on my face and I don’t look as confident.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I actually cleaned out my shoedrobe over the holidays and there were over 100 pairs. After 3 hours of culling I only managed to throw out 5 pairs

My signature scent..

Angel by Terry Mugler, I stole it from my sister.

4 must-have shoes for every woman’s wardrobe?

A pair of classic black heels, a statement heel, a nude strappy heel and a cute pair of summer sandals.

My style icon is..

I’m going through a major Lara Bingle phase at the moment. She rarely gets it wrong.
